Contraflow Limited, established in 1987, was the first traffic management company in Scotland to achieve both Quality Assurance and the National Highways Sector Scheme 12 approval, which is the bespoke quality management systems for organisations working on the UK road network. The Sector Schemes are based on the ISO9001:2008 standards and assesses and controls an organisation’s ability to work on various types and classifications of road.
12A/B is for static temporary traffic management on motorways and high speed dual carriageways.
12C is for mobile lane closure traffic management on motorways and other dual carriageways.
12D is for installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management on rural and urban roads .
As well as the sector scheme our employees receive initial training to Unit 2 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, covering mainly urban sites, single carriageways and dual carriageways up to 50 mph.
Contraflow supplies traffic management solutions to a wide range of industries, including public utility, local authorities, building and construction, civil engineering and consultancy, crane and rail companies and public events organisers.
With such a varied clientele and working requirements our Managers ensure that the solutions they provide are based on a site assessment of the specific risks and their designs are not only developed to meet the clients needs, but at the same time ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and other road users which is a paramount consideration in everything we do.
